TITLE: Executive Communications Officer
REPORTS TO: Heather Allen, Executive Office Manager
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
WORK LOCATION: Approved for Flexible Telework schedule
DATE: July 12, 2024
OBJECTIVE: Support the Office of the President and CEO through strategic communication strategies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work collaboratively with the President and CEO to plan, develop, implement, and assess communications from the Office of President and CEO.
  • Provide ideas, engaging content, graphics, writing, and editorial support for letters, publications, and other media from the office of President and CEO. This includes but is not limited to quarterly newsletter for college presidents, quarterly newsletters for CCsmart, articles, email communications,blogs, video, student letters of recommendation, social media, presentations, and speaking remarks.
  • Provide the leadership to facilitate media placement of the Society and its programs at the local, state,national, and international levels.
  • Work to position PTK as a thought leader in the higher education, student access, and student success spaces.
  • Provide creative and design support for a variety of websites under the PTK and CCsmart brands.
  • Utilize technology and other products to perform essential job duties. This includes but is not limited to Business Intelligence (BI), AI and other assistance tools, Mailchimp, Zoom webinars, etc.
  • Source internal and external student stories/blog support for CCsmart and PTK’s College Access Network.
  • Collaborate with outside consultants to increase PTK’s footprint and capacity for media placement.
  • Ensure DEI is an integrative tool in your decision-making.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree required and Doctorate degree preferred.
  • Five years of communications experience in a higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with Phi Theta Kappa constituents.
  • Must be able to travel.
  • Knowledge of and a deep appreciation for Phi Theta Kappa’s mission, programs, and culture.
  • Ability to manage budgets and oversee financial expenditures.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in group settings.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Noise: This work environment is an office-like setting with moderate noise.
  • Physical Exertion: The incumbent may frequently be required to lift approximately 10 pounds and/or occasionally up to 25 pounds.
  • Vision: The incumbent must possess close, midrange, distance and peripheral vision; as well as the ability to identify colors, judge distances and adjust focus.
  • Speaking/Hearing: The incumbent must be able to give and receive information through speaking and listening.
  • Motor Coordination: The incumbent in this position is frequently required to: use their hands and reach with their hands and arms. The incumbent is occasionally required to: stand, walk, and stoop, kneel, crouch or bend.
