We’re pulling back the curtain on the transfer admissions process to give you a look at the college’s side. In this video, Ron Filipowicz, PTK’s Associate Director of College and Transfer Relations, talks with transfer professionals Debbie Aiken and Jordan Dubberke about what they wish transfer students knew.
Debbie is Director of Extended Learning at Oglethorpe University in Georgia, and Jordan is Assistant Director of Transfer Admissions at Valparaiso University in Indiana.
Debbie and Jordan discussed how they use PTK Connect to reach students who might be a good fit at their institutions. They also shared helpful tips like turning in your final transcripts as soon as you have them and reading every piece of recruitment communication that comes your way.
The two biggest things they want you to know?
1. As a transfer student, you have flexibility in your timeline. Every transfer student is different, so there’s no set timeline you need to be sticking to. Your admissions rep will keep you on track.
2. Your admissions rep wants you to call, text, email, even come visit them. Build that relationship — they are there to help you. The students who have the most successful transitions are the ones who ask a thousand questions along the way.
