Phi Theta Kappa Launches Updated Professional Skills Development Course

Competitive Edge logoPhi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) is proud to announce the launch of its new and improved Competitive Edge online course focusing on soft skills and career planning.

Competitive Edge is the cornerstone of the PTK Edge programs, free online courses available exclusively to PTK members, alumni, and advisors. Through the course, students learn to communicate effectively, boost critical thinking and research skills, grow emotional intelligence, increase cultural awareness, and gain professional etiquette, setting them apart in both the classroom and the workforce.

Approximately 15,000 members use the platform each year and earn virtual badges as they move through the program’s five modules, which they can add to their resumes. They also have the option to purchase a lapel pin from the PTK Store upon completion of the course, which utilizes a combination of readings, videos, activities, and quizzes.

“Now more than ever, it is vital to build those key soft skills employers are looking for,” said Dr. Blake Ellis, PTK’s Vice President of Student Engagement. “The new course is user-friendly, interactive, and, more importantly, ADA compliant so everyone can access this professional development tool.”

Competitive Edge is sponsored by bartleby®, an online learning student success hub developed by Barnes & Noble Education, Inc., whose homework help products are designed and committed to improve student outcomes by offering pathways for learning that fit the schedules and demands of today’s student and the changing academic landscape.
