Oberndorf Lifeline to Completion

Oberndorf Lifeline to Completion

Phi Theta Kappa’s Oberndorf Lifeline to Completion Scholarship helps Phi Theta Kappa members overcome unanticipated financial barriers preventing the completion of a student’s first college credential, an associate degree or certificate, while enrolled in college.

The scholarship is named in honor of its founders, Rosemary and Lou Oberndorf. The scholarship is awarded with a commitment from the student to finish college, and the Oberndorf funds have helped hundreds of students do just that. Our studies show that students receiving these funds, complete college at a 88% rate, which is more than double the completion rate for community college students.

“When my husband unexpectedly lost his job, I worried about how the costs associated with my education would fit into our family of four's budget. College is an investment, but without my husband's income, I was concerned about my ability to continue my education. The Oberndorf Lifeline to Completion Scholarship was indeed a lifeline for me and my family. It started me on my way to having a Ph.D. in neuroscience.”
