The Future is . . . Smart

Isn’t necessity the mother of all inventions? Several tabled philosophical arguments attribute the success of physical endeavors in the field of sciences, such as Newton’s Laws of Motion, to the establishment of comprehensive complex social ideologies such as the idea of democracy and the American Constitution to necessity. During the late 18th century seeping through to early 19th century, the world saw necessity result in a massive global movement, the Industrial Revolution. Today, history is just about to repeat itself. The same necessity is instigating a slow but sure revolution in the field of technology!

Globally, tech companies are relentlessly and continuously innovating, ushering us into an era of unlimited possibilities! Who thought we would live in a time when robots and humans coexisted peacefully at Walmart? I totally did not! I was always predisposed to the notion that these futuristic ideas were purely fictitious, creations of the complexity of the human mind at its extreme. Today, my perspective on the matter has shifted significantly, and I envision myself being a part of the revolution; a revolution like one never experienced before; a Smart Revolution!

The awakening era is promising to enhance the quality life of humans significantly. This will not only result from the comfort availed by advanced technological equipment but will also positively influence the health standards by curbing toxic emissions resulting from traditional methods. Elon Musk, a man who has been described as the real Tony Stark, is relentlessly working on innovating means which offer competent energy solutions harnessed from renewable sources. This is a big blow to stereotypical assumptive misconceptions which often debunk the competence of machines running on safe renewable sources of energy. Tesla’s Model X, for instance, was the first car to receive a perfect safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)! It has a heavy battery pack which is strategically located on its floor to significantly minimizes its probability of rolling over by lowering its center of gravity.

Tesla’s vision is not only revolutionary, but it also provides a sneak peek into the future! However, Elon Musk is not the only billionaire who has gazed into the future and caught wind of the imminent Smart Revolution! Globally, billionaires including Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, and even Jack Ma have ensured they will not be left behind in the scramble for a piece of the pie. Influential technology companies such as Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, and Google are not lagging either. These companies allocate billions to engineer technological innovations aimed at making the world better, safer, and more pleasant to current and future generations.

All that glitters, however, is not always gold! Reliance on computerized pieces of technology often allows hackers and other people with ill intent to compromise and manipulate these systems. Hackers, for instance, can always devise dubious ways to sway the operations of computerized systems. Additionally, increased computerizations in workplaces pose a threat to the existence and relevance of different blue collar and even white-collar sectors. These machines are programed to function at a level of precision almost humanely unattainable.

The revolution, nonetheless, is unstoppable, and is already gathering momentum as it takes course. Albeit promising, the qualitative prediction of the effects and outcomes of the Smart Revolution is an impossibility. However, based on the ideas projected by various vision drivers in the tech industry, all we can do is to hope for the best. Brace yourselves, beautiful people, because the revolution isn’t a thing of the future anymore. The revolution is here and is NOW.
